The Arts Academy at First Christian Church serves to develop the next generation of artists – trained with excellence for the task of ministry. It also serves as an avenue for growing disciples of Jesus Christ and expressing his love for people in our community.

SUNDAYS FROM 10:25-10:55AM  |  MARCH 3-31, 2019

Youth Choir is for students Kindergarten through high school. We will sing for the Intentional Church Conference on April 6 (9am) and Sunday worship services on April 7 (9:15am and 11am). Orchestra Weekend


PERFORMANCE SUNDAY, MARCH 31, 2019

Whether your old instrument is calling your name, or you would like to try playing in a band outside of school, Sunday, March 31, is your opportunity. The East Auditorium will take on a whole new sound as you join Arts Academy students leading worship that day. Several years experience on your instrument is recommended.

The orchestra will practice on Monday, March 25 at 7pm and Tuesday, March 26 at 7pm. The orchestra will lead worship at both the 9:15am and 11am worship services in the East Auditorium on Sunday, March 31.

What Instruments are in the orchestra?
Strings, winds, brass, percussion.

How much experience is needed?
You should be able to read early/intermediate music; 2+ years of experience is recommended.

What Songs Will You Be Playing?
You’ll find the music, as well as an audio recording of the three songs in the links here. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the song, and your part specifically, prior to the first rehearsal.

Homeschool

THURSDAYS FROM 12:30-1:30PM


K-1 Arts Exploration

Ages: 5 - 7 years old
Number of Students: 20

Students K-1st grade will have the opportunity throughout the course of the class to explore different artistic disciplines. Students will have age appropriate activities that will teach them some basics in each of the areas of art including: music, drawing/painting, dance, singing, drama and culinary arts.

Art

(FULL)
Ages: 5th Grade - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 10

The first semester students will do a variety of different art projects that utilize many different tools and techniques. Second semester students will learn to turn trash into treasure, using a variety of materials recycled into unique pieces of art.

Sewing

Ages: 4th Grade - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 8

Students will learn the basics of machine and hand sewing, as well as how to read and work from a pattern. Students will learn how to properly use a sewing machine and will create a variety of projects throughout the year.

Evening Classes

Dance

NEW CLASS!!!
Ages: 3rd - 12th grade
Number of Students: 12

Dance class provides students the opportunity to learn elements and skills in the forms of ballet, lyrical, and jazz. Students will have the opportunity to learn technique and routines, and perform in events throughout the year.

Students 2nd-3rd grade will have the opportunity throughout the course of the class to explore the different areas of art. Students will have age appropriate activities that will teach them some basics in each of the areas of art including: music, drawing/painting, dance, singing, drama and culinary arts.

Drama

Ages: 4th Grade - 7th Grade
Number of Students: 20

Ages: 8th Grade - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 20

Drama students will have the opportunity to learn staging, voicing, and many other aspects of theater over the course of the class. Students will have opportunity to perform in smaller skits and a larger production at the end of the year.

 

Culinary Arts

(FULL)
Ages: 4th Grade - 12th Grade
Number of Students:12

Students have the opportunity in Culinary Arts class to learn kitchen tools and safety. They will also learn to read and follow a recipe and how to make a variety of dishes.

Art

(FULL)
Ages: 5th Grade - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 10

Hip Hop

Ages: 5th - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 20

Hip Hop will teach students about this particular form of dance and provide them with the opportunity to perform.

Video Production

Ages: 9th Grade - Adult
Number of Students: 3

Video Production offers students the opportunity to learn basic photography, videography and video editing. Students will have the opportunity to shoot and create a variety of videos throughout the course of the class.

Beginner Painting

(FULL)
Ages: 5th Grade - Adult
Number of Students: 10

Beginner painting will teach students the basics of acrylic painting. Students will have the opportunity to create a variety of pieces throughout the course of the class.

Oil Painting

(FULL)
Ages: 7th Grade - Adult
Number of Students: 10

Beginners will learn the process to plan, design and create pieces of art using oil paints.

Sewing

(FULL)
Ages: 4th Grade - Adult
Number of Students: 8

Fiber Arts

(FULL)
Ages: 4th Grade - Adult

Students will learn how to crochet, knit, dye yarn and other arts using fiber. They will have the opportunity to create items to keep and to share.
