The Arts Academy at First Christian Church serves to develop the next generation of artists – trained with excellence for the task of ministry. It also serves as an avenue for growing disciples of Jesus Christ and expressing his love for people in our community.

Early Morning Classes

Oil Painting

Ages: 10th Grade - Adult
Number of Students: 10

Beginners will learn the process to plan, design and create pieces of art using oil paints.

K-1 Arts Exploration

Ages: 5 - 7 years old
Number of Students: 20

Students K-1st grade will have the opportunity throughout the course of the class to explore different artistic disciplines. Students will have age appropriate activities that will teach them some basics in each of the areas of art including: music, drawing/painting, dance, singing, drama and culinary arts.

2nd - 3rd Grade Storybook Art

Ages: 2nd - 3rd Grade
Number of Students: 15

Students will learn a variety of art skills and techniques and use a variety of mediums while creating pieces inspired by storybooks. Using the artwork created in a variety of stories students will create their own masterpieces.

Drawing & Watercolor

Ages: 5th - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 10

The first semester students learn drawing and sketching techniques using graphite. Second semester students will explore a variety of watercolor tools and techniques building on the skills learned in first semester.

Culinary Arts

Ages: 4th Grade - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 14

Students have the opportunity in Culinary Arts class to learn kitchen tools and safety. They will also learn to read and follow a recipe and how to make a variety of dishes.

Drama (4th-7th Grade)

Ages: 4th - 7th Grade
Number of Students: 20

Drama students will have the opportunity to learn staging, voicing, and many other aspects of theater over the course of the class. Students will have opportunity to perform in smaller skits and a larger production at the end of the year.

Drama (8th-12th Grade)

Ages: 8th - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 20

Drama students will have the opportunity to learn staging, voicing, and many other aspects of theater over the course of the class. Students will have opportunity to perform in smaller skits and a larger production at the end of the year.

Lyrical Dance

Ages: 5th - 12th grade
Number of Students: 15

Lyrical dance will teach students about this particular form of dance and provide them with the opportunity to perform.

Beginner Painting

Ages: 5th Grade - Adult
Number of Students: 10

Beginner painting will teach students the basics of acrylic painting. Students will have the opportunity to create a variety of pieces throughout the course of the class.

Sewing

Ages: 4th Grade - Adult
Number of Students: 6

Students will learn the basics of machine and hand sewing, as well as how to read and work from a pattern. Students will learn how to properly use a sewing machine and will create a variety of projects throughout the year.

Fiber Arts

Ages: 4th Grade - Adult
Number of Students: 10

Students will learn how to crochet, knit, dye yarn, and other arts using fiber. They will have the opportunity to create items to keep and to share.

Homeschool Classes

Culinary Arts

Ages: 4th Grade - 12th Grade
Number of Students: 10

Students have the opportunity in Culinary Arts class to learn kitchen tools and safety. They will also learn to read and follow a recipe and how to make a variety of dishes.

Ages: 8 - 9 years old
Number of Students: 10

Art class provides students with the opportunity to create amazing artwork as they learn about the basic elements of art. Students will learn to communicate through art using colored pencils (a versatile art medium). Students’ projects will include: sketchbooks; use of line, texture, color, and more; seasonal drawings; study of famous artists; final project will be suitable for framing.
