In 2019, First Christian Church is celebrating its 185th year of ministry in Decatur, IL. Dr. Joseph Hostetler began a group meeting in Decatur in 1834 that met in a log courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. It was stated back in 1978, "The long history of First Christian Church exists because of the great number of Christian people who have lived, sacrificed, and given of whatever talent they had . . . that the good news of Christ might be made known, in this congregation, this community, and to the other parts of the world." We are excited to say that this still rings true today.

Also, Pastor Wayne and Leslie Kent are also celebrating 25 years of ministry at First Christian Church. They moved from Tulsa, OK to Decatur back in 1994. We are blessed to have them and look forward to many more years with them.
